It is small wonder that Professor Michael Marrus [http://life.nationalpost.com/2011/04/05/rights-museum-needs-rethink-academic-says/] has disparaged the current Canadian Museum of Human Rights (CMHR) course. This museum was envisaged as a museum which was to have as its focus human rights, the creation and codification of these rights.

It is a provocating clip. Today I used it in my seminar and the students discused it in different ways. My oppinion is, that the guy is right. There is no betther way to remember the cruleness, than dancing on the place of paine and terror. This man is a real survivor!

As for the Shlomo Sand book, there has been an article in the Germen "Süddeutsche Zeitung" recently, reporting on a project in human genetics which challenges his view on Jewish history, claiming that all jews, wherever they live, can be traced back to a common origin and distinguished by from non-jews.
Here is the link to the article <a href="http://www.sueddeutsche.de/wissen/genforschung-ahnen-aus-judaea-1.953790" rel="nofollow">"Ahnen aus Judäa". Süddeutsche Zeitung, June 4th, 2010.</a>

And today there is an article about the continuation:
http://www.taz.de/1/debatte/theorie/artikel/1/spucken-und-schreien/

In respect of antisemitism and the middle east conflict we can have some odd behavior in the public showing us that there is a big field of unsolved affects.

I like Christian Semler since he has changed from K-group-ideology times. He is one who has re-thought much since the seventies.

I think, this is a very nice story about how learning can be motivated by contingency and about how the teacher used the opportunity very well in this case. The latter is not common usage while following a fixed curriculum - in Germany, for one.
